Depending on the day and the time, a splendid steam locomotive

or a powerful diesel

is at the head of the train near the station of Martel, ready to transport you on a fantastic journey. A journey of 13 Km back and forth, on a balcony overlooking, at more than 80 meters of height, the valley of the Dordogne river and its beautiful panoramas.

Since the departure from Martel the track is continuously downhill (20 ‰) and goes thru five tunnels and one viaduct. Near the station you can admire the magnificent switching tower, real papier maché, remaining from the movie « Effroyables jardins » from Jean Becker filmed on the line.

After the departure, you will notice the usual mess of any serious railway: tools, wagons, coal piles, tracks and sleepers. If you are on a diesel-powered train you will admire, quietly waiting the next service, "Marine", the steam locomotive of the line.
